Surely these 2 Chelsea players have no future under Luis Enrique if he replaces Antonio Conte
Our Chelsea fans here in the Transfer Tavern are expecting a managerial change once again at Stamford Bridge this summer.
Antonio Conte’s days seem numbered after a run of just two victories so far this year and slipping within touching distance of Spurs in the Europa League places. After suffering their second three-goal deficit defeat for the first time in the Premier League since 1995, the pressure’s been cranked up on the Italian.
Many reports are breaking that former Barcelona boss, Luis Enrique is reportedlyset to be lined up as a replacement for Conte for whatever point he moves on, much to the delight of the Blues in our bar right now.
If Luis Enrique does take over at the helm, there should be a few players our regulars feel, that will be on their way out of Stamford Bridge. Many have not performed this season, and it could be any one of a number of players to leave but our landlord takes a look at two in particular that looks like they will have no future after this season…
The England defender hasn’t been up to his own personal standards this season, and there is a school of thought flying around the pub to show that Chelsea this campaign are actually better off when Cahill doesn’t play.
After taking over from John Terry, Cahill was always going to have some big boots to fill and while he is an excellent defender, maybe this season with the armband has got too much for him. However, if Enrique was to come in and see the squad now, there are far better defenders in the squad than Cahill.
Even though the former Arsenal man has only just arrived, perhaps he won’t have a long-term future in west London. If our barman takes a look at the Barcelona team Enrique had, a target man like Giroud is not the kind of player that would fit his style of play.
If the Chelsea board are hoping that the Spaniard comes in and make them Barcelona-like, players like Giroud are going to have to be sold. Which is unfortunate for the Frenchman, but he would surely not want a repeat of bench warming like he did at the Emirates.
