Why Audu Ogbeh, Lai Mohammed should be fired – HURIWA

The Human Rights Writers Association ofNigeria, HURIWA, has called for the sack of Agriculture Minister, Mr. Audu Ogbeh, and the Information Minister, Alhaji Lai Mohammed. The group said the duo were being economical with the truth in the discharge of their public functions, thereby polluting the innocent minds of Nigerian children even as disseminating false information violates the criminal code Act of Nigeria. In a statement signed by the National Coordinator, Comrade Emmanuel Onwubiko and the National Media Affairs Director, Miss Zainab Yusuf, HURIWA condemned  Ogbeh for exposing the global image of Nigeria  to disrepute by dishing out information on the rice industry of Thailand. HURIWA charged President Buhari to at least suspend the Agriculture Minister from office and carry out further investigation within seven days on the veracity of his claims that Rice factories in Thailand closed down because the current government in Nigeria suddenly made rice production...

Despite Buhari’s presence, gunmen attack Plateau community; five feared killed

Plateau State on Map Less than 24 hours after the official launch of a five year road map for peace strategy in Plateau State by President Muhammadu Buhari, gunmen reportedly killed five persons in the state. The attack occurred in Nzharuvo community of Basa Local Government Area of the state Thursday night. The attacked community is located close to ECWA Secondary School, Mingo, in Bassa local government. A youth leader in the community Danjuma Auta, told PREMIUM TIMES of the attack on Friday. According to Mr. Auta, the victims were mostly children and a woman. “With the persistent attacks on our communities, most men no longer sleep at home. Tragedy: Nigerian stabs two others to death in South Africa – Union

Amaechi Arrested In Germany Over Links With Boko Haram

A 27-year-old Nigerian man, Fred Amaechi, suspected of being a member of Boko Haram, has been arrested in Germany. He was detained on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 in Bavaria and a day later a judge issued an arrest warrant and ordered that he be remanded in custody, the chief federal prosecutor said in a statement, Reuters  reports. “He is strongly suspected of being a member of the foreign terrorist organisation, Boko Haram,” the statement said. It said Amaechi Fred O. was believed to have joined Boko Haram in 2013 and had admitted to actively taking part in four attacks against Nigerian civilians during his one-year membership of the group. He is accused of killing several people during two attacks on schools and one attack on a village and taking part in another attack on a village, during which members of Boko Haram took girls as hostages and burned down a church.
