Tragedy: Nigerian stabs two others to death in South Africa – Union

Emeka Ezinteje, Secretary of the Nigerian Union in South Africa, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on the telephone from Johannesburg, South Africa, that the incident was due to a business dispute. “We have received a report that at 3.00am on Saturday, Ekweghiariri Chidi Isacc, 34, a native of Ehime in Isiala Mbano Local Government of Imo and Nzechukwu Alabuche, 35, from Azia in Anambra were stabbed to death by one Sunday from Awgbu in Anambra. “The incident occurred at Rossetinville, South of Johannesburg. “We understand that there was a business dispute between them, that made the assailant to stab the victims to death,” he said. Nollywood actress, Nora Nkiruka Ugo has been reported dead. The actress died over the weekend in Lagos after batling a yet to be disclosed ailment. Her death was disclosed by a colleague, Actress Ruth Kadiri on her Instagram page. Ruth Kadiri wrote: “I’m so scared of putting this picture up, not sure if it’s the right thing to do. You were that girl that made my life change. You where that girl that made me laugh a lot you where that girl that I got so mad at. You where that girl that was friend to all. “I spoke to you last. Week. You were the strongest sick person I know. I’m hurt by your death. My head still aches. Wish death was a thing that could be undone. “I know God will have a new angel that makes him laugh all day and puts a smile on his face. Gone too soon. Rest in peace Nora. Court adjourns suit seeking to remove Bagudu as Kebbi Governor

The Federal High Court, Abuja, on Tuesday adjourned until February 6, hearing in a suit filed before it by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) seeking to remove Kebbi State Governor, Abubakar Bagudu. The trial Judge, Justice Ahmed Mohammed adjourned the matter after listening to the submission of Mr. Bagudu’s counsel, Yakubu Maikyau, (SAN). Suspended DG of Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), SEC DG Mr Mounir Gwarzo Minister of Finance, Mrs Kemi Adeosun, on Tuesday insisted that suspension of Mr Munir Gwarzo, Director-General of Security and Exchange Commission (SEC), was valid. At an investigative hearing organised by House of Representatives Committee on Capital Market and Institutions on the issue, the minister said that the suspension was in line with public service rules. She said that the action became necessary in order to sustain the confidence of investors and safeguard the integrity of the Nigerian capital market. The minister alleged that Gwarzo was a director in a private company while in office as the DG of the commision, thereby violating public service rules. “Mr Munir was suspended in accordance with the Public Service Rules (PSRs) 03405 and 03406,” she said. INEC seeks NCC's help to electronically transmit, collate results The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has sought the help of the Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC) to electronically transmit and collate results during the 2019 general elections. The Chairman of the electoral commission, Mahmood Yakubu, said this during a visit to the NCC on Tuesday as the general election draws near. The INEC delegation was received by the Executive Vice Chairman of NCC, Umar Dambatta, and other management staff of the organisation. The commission chairman said INEC was committed to deepening the deployment of technology in elections, adding that this is the reason there is need to discuss with telecommunications operators in Nigeria so that election results can be electronically collated and transmitted.
